He became a legal expert on real estate and oil and gas leases while Gloria focused on the financials and accounting for the family business. Together, through conservative investments offsetting oil and gas speculation, the López’ became extremely successful. With no children of their own, their fortune was left to HGLF to further their commitment to higher education for Texas students.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>As CEO, Sergio oversees the entire scope of HGLF including philanthropic strategy and execution, as well as business management of the ranches that are now part of the foundation.  A nephew of the founders, Sergio previously led the GALO Land and Cattle operation for seven years.  Prior to these roles, Sergio spent 20 years as a Vice President with the information technology and services consulting firm CGI in London, Denver, Washington, DC and Austin.  Sergio currently serves on the Board of Trustees at St. Edward’s University, as well as on the board of Austin PBS.  He also sits on the Advisory Board of University of Texas Press (UT Press) and is a member of the Philosophical Society of Texas. In the past, he has served on the boards of Con Mi Madre, Breakthrough-Central Texas, and the Austin Community Foundation. Sergio is a graduate of Princeton University and holds an MBA from the University of Michigan’s Ross School of Business. Sergio lives with his wife Louise in Austin where they raised their three daughters.</image:caption>

Verónica joined The Foundation in June of 2021 after leading Elephant Labs, Inc. - Claimbot as their COO/CFO where she was instrumental in their capital raise led by Google. Prior to that role Verónica spent 20+ years providing financial analysis and compliance guidance for companies like American Express, Merrill Lynch and AT&amp;T. Verónica lends her skills to several local non-profit causes that are close to her heart. She is the past Board Chair and Treasurer for Con Mi MADRE, an organization that provides educational programming for Latina teenagers in Texas.  At the Long Center she served as Vice Chair of the Board of Trustees, Finance Chair and Secretary, where she helped lead finance and development activities. Verónica is also a member of the 4ATX Foundation Board providing access to youth development and leadership opportunities to the community through soccer. At the Zilker Elementary PTA she led the charge for the implementation of a Spanish Language Immersion program. Most recently, Verónica has joined the Board of Trustees of St. Andrew's Episcopal School. Verónica is a graduate of the University of Notre Dame, and enjoys running at Lady Bird Lake and traveling.  She feels blessed to raise her family in Austin, Texas, her hometown.</image:caption>

      <image:caption>As Director of Data &amp; Strategic Impact, Amy builds data infrastructure to track longitudinal impact and inform decision-making; develops comprehensive regional needs assessments and equity analyses; and designs, implements and monitors program evaluations.  Amy joined HGLF in November 2021 after more than a decade working in program evaluation, research, and data analysis for Texas nonprofits such as Every Texan (formerly Center for Public Policy Priorities) and Upbring.  After graduating first in her class from the LBJ School of Public Affairs at The University of Texas at Austin (where she served as a camp counselor for Subiendo: The Academy for Rising Leaders), Amy completed programs with the Austin Area Research Organization (Frank McBee Jr. Fellowship), Leadership Austin, the Center for Creative Leadership, American Heart Association’s Leaders with Heart, and Annie E. Casey Foundation’s Results-Based Leadership Institute.  She is a long-time volunteer English instructor with Casa Marianella, team leader for ECHO’s annual Point-In-Time count, and middle school math tutor through Communities in Schools. She previously lived in Costa Rica and Peru working with Fair Trade and microfinance participants as a Fulbright and Crook Fellow. In her free time, she enjoys taking advantage of Austin’s vibrant arts and comedy scenes.</image:caption>

Lucy lives in Leander, near Austin, with her husband and son.       <image:caption>As Event Manager, Nicholas collaborates with the broader philanthropic team to lead logistics for all López Scholars events, including the annual Leadership Summit, ensuring that all events and experiences contribute to the academic, leadership, and career advancement of López Scholars throughout Texas. Nicholas also works closely with university partners to produce all on-campus events, as well as thought leadership events for HGLF. Prior to joining the Foundation in October of 2023, Nicholas spent four years at the Urban Institute in Washington, DC, as an Event Manager. In this capacity, he led the coordination of both in-person and virtual events while providing support for marketing initiatives. Nicholas also played a key role in collaborative projects focused on building inclusive event programs, refining event strategy, and crafting remarks for the organization's principal leaders. A proud alumnus of Texas State University, Nicholas now calls Austin home.</image:caption>
